What Are We Doing?
Posted: September 28th, 2010 | Author: aweider | Filed under: About JBoomers | 3 Comments »JBoomers hopes to create a synergy amongst Jewish Baby Boomers so that more elaborate programs can be created that meet their specific needs on both a national and local level. These include: JBoomer study (on line and in person) with significant Jewish thinkers, JBoomer adventure travel which incorporates “hands on” mitzvah work in Jewish communities visited, JBoomer outward bound spiritual retreats, JBoomer camp retreats, JBoomer cultural gatherings, JBoomer health fairs, JBoomer exercise programs, JBoomer economic t’zedakah cooperatives, JBoomer activities such as biking, skiing, hiking, and JBoomer book groups.
Another larger impact that will emerge from JBoomers will come from a panel of JBoomer rabbis, teachers and other Jewish professionals who will offer spiritual and religious guidance, education and connection via the JBoomer.org social network. Their advice will help JBoomers deal with larger personal issues such as: being a “sandwich generation” (a generation caring for aging parents while still parenting children), dealing with debilitating diseases such as Alzheimer’s, dealing with unemployment due to the economic downturn, dealing with new (and unforeseen) relationships between adults, dealing with the new realities of “Grandparenting”, dealing with blended family relationships, dealing with inter-faith family relationships and dealing with death/divorce/abandonment. It is hoped that as JBoomers regain their spiritual and emotional connectedness with Judaism and the Jewish community they will exemplify its importance to their children and grandchildren.
